“Arranging and performing this version of The Hockey Theme was one of the great musical experiences of my life,” said Peart. “Knowing what a big part of Canadian culture it is, our ’second national anthem, I felt honoured to be asked to remake it. I hope everyone has as much fun playing it as I did!”

Already a cult classic and YouTube sensation, Peart’s popular version of The Hockey Theme debuted on TSN in January 2010.  Peart’s version of the song is also available for digital download at the iTunes Canada store.

About The Hockey Theme

In June 2008, CTV Inc. acquired all rights to The Hockey Theme in perpetuity, preserving the song’s legacy and ensuring it will be heard on national television for years to come.  Created by Vancouver’s Dolores Claman in 1968, The Hockey Theme is used during NHL broadcasts on CTV Inc.’s TSN and RDS specialty channels. In September 2008, CTV Inc. carefully restored The Hockey Theme and recorded a classic rendition featuring 54 members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.  In addition Peart’s recording, Canadian bands Simple Plan and Barenaked Ladies have recorded and performed their own unique versions of The Hockey Theme for TSN.
