Toronto, ON (August 25, 2010) – Hockey lives here! With the most nationally-televised NHL regular season games in Canada, TSN and TSN2 deliver Canada’s favourite pastime to fans from coast to coast with its 124-game NHL ON TSN broadcast schedule for the 2010-11 regular season. All games are available nationally in High Definition. Games and highlights are also available on demand on TSN.ca.

This year’s combined 124-game national broadcast package is part of TSN and TSN2’s multi-year broadcast and digital rights agreement with the NHL. A total of 76 regular season games will air on TSN, with 70 games featuring at least one Canadian team. TSN also retains exclusivity of WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY, during which there are no other national or local NHL telecasts.

TSN2’s regular season schedule features 48 live NHL games showcasing non-Canadian teams. In addition, TSN and TSN2 have pre-season action featuring all six Canadian clubs.

“As we saw with our regular season audiences last year, Canadian fans are watching the NHL more than ever. With 124 games this year, TSN and TSN2 will ensure fans across the country are well-served with a broadcast package that has the most nationally-televised NHL regular season games in Canada,” said Stewart Johnston, President, TSN. “In addition to live games, Canadian hockey fans also receive all-encompassing coverage of their favourite NHL teams on all of TSN’s broadcast, digital, online and mobile platforms.”

Regular season coverage on TSN gets underway on Thursday, Oct. 7 – opening day – with an NHL Premiere game from Europe, as the Carolina Hurricanes take on the Minnesota Wild at 12 noon ET in Helsinki, Finland. In total, TSN has four NHL games from Europe to kick off the regular season.

TSN then hits the ice closer to home with its first WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY broadcast of the year featuring doubleheader action on October 13 with Toronto @ Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. ET immediately followed by Vancouver @ Anaheim at 10 p.m. ET.

TSN2 has NHL action on Tuesday, Oct. 12 with Colorado @ Detroit at 7:30 p.m. ET. (See broadcast schedule below.)

Highlights of the NHL ON TSN schedule include three all-Canadian match-ups featuring Edmonton @ Montreal and Vancouver @ Calgary on December 1, and Ottawa @ Montreal on December 7. Headlining the NHL ON TSN’s Canadian team coverage during the regular season is Toronto with 17 appearances, followed by Montreal with 16, Ottawa with 12, and 10 appearances each for Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton featuring #1 overall draft pick Taylor Hall.

Additional highlights of the NHL ON TSN regular season schedule include:

• 12 Original Six match-ups
• 10 games featuring Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks
• 14 games featuring Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals
• 10 doubleheaders on TSN
• Dany Heatley’s highly-anticipated return to Ottawa with the San Jose Sharks on December 2
• Continued exclusivity of WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY, during which there are no other national or local NHL telecasts

TSN delivered impressive audiences for the NHL during the 2009-10 regular season. With 71 games featuring Canadian teams, TSN averaged 714,000 viewers – the highest average audience ever recorded for NHL regular season games on TSN.† Audience levels also increased in all key advertising demographics for TSN compared to the 2008-09 NHL regular season.

As part of its broadcast rights agreement with the league, TSN has exclusive Canadian specialty television rights for national English-language broadcast and digital coverage of NHL games. Once again, TSN has coverage of the first three rounds of the STANLEY CUP® PLAYOFFS, exclusive Canadian coverage of the NHL DRAFT LOTTERY and NHL ENTRY DRAFT, and a suite of broadband, wireless and video-on-demand rights for NHL ON TSN telecasts.

Toronto, ON (August 24, 2010) – Phil King, President of Sports and Executive Vice-President of Programming, CTV Inc., today announced three appointments at TSN, effective immediately. Reporting to King, Stewart Johnston is promoted to President. Reporting to Johnston are Mark Milliere, who is promoted to Senior Vice-President, Production, and Shawn Redmond, who moves to a new role as Vice-President, Programming.

As President of TSN, Johnston, 39, will oversee all of the day-to-day operations of TSN and its various platforms including TSN2, TSN.ca, TSN Mobile, and TSN Events, along with ESPN Classic and NHL Network.

“Over his past 13 years at TSN, Stewart has proven to have a real instinct for sports broadcasting and has been instrumental in the evolution of TSN from a single broadcaster to a fully integrated multimedia sports company,” said King. “In addition to implementing an aggressive programming strategy and driving record audiences, Stewart’s negotiations with our partners have put TSN in an excellent position to continue to grow the business for years to come.”

“From the World Juniors to the Grey Cup, Phil King has helped make TSN an institution in this country,” said Johnston. “It is an incredible honour to take the reins from him and lead such an accomplished team of broadcasters. All of us at TSN are fully committed to giving Canadians even more of the best sports coverage possible.”

Formerly, Johnston was Vice-President of Programming for TSN, a position he has held since 2007. In that role, he was responsible for all aspects of the network’s program strategy along with the negotiation for, and acquisition of, key sports broadcasting properties. Johnston worked closely with King to shape the network’s identity and create one of the most impressive broadcast schedules in the country – resulting in record audiences for TSN across all of its platforms.

In addition to overseeing TSN’s program strategy, Johnston has been one of the key negotiators in cementing TSN’s partnerships with major sports properties including the NHL, CFL, Hockey Canada, NFL, NBA, NASCAR and the Canadian Curling Association. Johnston has been with TSN since 1997 when he joined the network as a program scheduler.

As Senior Vice-President, Production, Mark Milliere becomes Johnston’s second-in-command. Milliere continues to be responsible for all aspects of TSN’s live productions and in-house shows, including SportsCentre, NHL ON TSN, CFL ON TSN, IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP, curling, OFF THE RECORD WITH MICHAEL LANDSBERG, and NBA. He is also responsible for hiring production staff and talent.

“Mark is one of the most accomplished and respected television producers and sports executives in Canada,” said Johnston. “He has led a team that has consistently raised the bar in sports broadcasting in this country and internationally. As my right hand, Mark will take on a broader scope in the day-to-day business of the network.”

A two-time Gemini Award winner, Milliere has overseen production of some of Canada’s most-watched sports broadcasts, including Olympic Games hockey, the IIHF World Junior Championship, and the Grey Cup. Milliere has spent his entire 23-year career at TSN. Before becoming Vice-President of Production in 2007, Milliere was Vice-President of News and NHL on TSN. Milliere joined TSN in 1987 as an Editorial Assistant at SportsCentre (then called Sportsdesk) while still a student at Ryerson University in the Radio & Television Arts program.

As Vice-President, Programming, Shawn Redmond assumes Johnston’s former role with TSN.

“Shawn’s new role comes in recognition of his outstanding work in positioning TSN as one of Canadian television’s strongest brands,” said Johnston. “As Vice-President of Programming, he will assume an enhanced role on TSN’s senior management team, overseeing TSN’s content across all platforms and taking on a larger role in the strategy of the business.”

Previously Vice-President, Marketing, Redmond, 36, has led the overall consumer marketing strategy for TSN, as well as digital sports networks NHL Network and ESPN Classic, since 2007. He is responsible for numerous award-winning TSN promotions, including the highly successful Kraft Celebration Tour and the launch of TSN2, and has collaborated with many high-profile sports properties, including the NHL, CFL, Hockey Canada, NFL and NBA.

Redmond joined TSN in 2005 as Senior Marketing Manager. Prior to joining TSN, Redmond spent four years as Manager, Sponsorship Marketing at RBC Financial Group, where he worked on sports-related brand initiatives. Redmond has also worked at PCS Innovations and Molson Canada.

A replacement for Redmond will be announced soon.

TSN is Canada’s Sports Leader and Canada’s most-watched specialty network.

Toronto, ON (July 26, 2010) – It’s time to get kicking, Canada! TSN today announced details for the return of its international award-winning million dollar giveaway, Wendy’s Kick for a Million. For the sixth-consecutive year, one lucky fan will get the chance to kick a 50-yard field goal for $1 million. This year’s competition features two new venues for playoff rounds: Moncton, NB hosts the Eastern quarter-final while Hamilton, ON is the destination for the Wendy’s Kick for a Million semifinal.

The $1 Million Kick attempt will then air live nationally on October 15 during halftime of the CFL ON TSN: WENDY’S FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL broadcast featuring Hamilton @ Toronto (game starts at 7:30 p.m. ET). Both the game and the halftime event are available in High Definition.

“This program kicked off with a bang six years ago when our first-ever participant split the uprights to win $1 million. Since then it has become one of the ‘must-see’ events on the CFL ON TSN schedule,” said Phil King, President of TSN. “We are thrilled to work with Wendy’s again and give our fans another opportunity to kick for a million.”

With an expanded program this year, four randomly selected participants will participate in a series of kick-offs in front of live CFL crowds in Calgary, Hamilton and Toronto as well as Moncton as part of Scotiabank Touchdown Atlantic – the CFL’s first-ever regular season game in Atlantic Canada. Then one lucky fan will have the chance to turn a 50-yard field goal into a $1 million payday (see attachment for Contest Format).

The Wendy’s Kick for a Million contest begins today and runs through September 7. Fans are invited to enter online at TSN.ca/Wendys or RDS.ca/Wendys, with bonus entries being awarded for playing the Wendy’s Field Goal Challenge game and by referring friends to enter as well. In addition, fans can upsize their combo at any participating Wendy’s restaurant to receive a Game Card worth 50 bonus entries and a 1-in-9 chance to win instant prizes such as Wendy’s food prizes and gift cards, Samsung 32” LCD HDTVs, Timex watches and a 2011 Nissan Juke.

Lucrative prizes for this year’s Wendy’s Kick for a Million final event include:

· 20 Yards – Samsung $25,000 Family Package

· 30 Yards – Nissan 370Z Roadster

· 40 Yards – $100,000 cash

· 50 Yards – $1 million in a one-time payout – if the 50-yard attempt falls short, the participant will receive $1,000 for every yard kicked in the air

“With quarter-finals in Calgary and Moncton, the semifinals in Hamilton, and finals in Toronto, this year’s Wendy’s Kick for a Million is truly a national event,” said Lisa Deletroz, Regional Marketing Director, Wendy’s. “And with Quebec’s participation this year, the connection with our customers and CFL fans has never been stronger.”

In 2005, the first year of the contest, mechanical engineer Brian Diesbourg of Belle River, ON, became an overnight sensation by splitting the uprights at 50 yards and winning the $1 million grand prize.

Marketing Campaign

TSN and Wendy’s are supporting Wendy’s Kick for a Million with a multi-platform promotional strategy. Initiatives include two 30-second promotional spots airing on TSN and RDS, a targeted PR/marketing campaign, CFL ON TSN in-game mentions, online creative and e-blasts to registered TSN.ca users. Support also includes Wendy’s in-restaurant presence featuring 1.8 million Instant Win Game Cards and 3 million tray liners and take-out bags as well as window clings and other indoor/outdoor signage to communicate contest details in each participating Wendy’s restaurant. In addition, fans can follow the Wendy’s Kick for a Million campaign on Facebook and Twitter.

Wendy’s Kick for a Million continues to be one of TSN’s most popular fan contests. Last year’s promotion received 7.8 million total entries, up 178% from 2008. The Wendy’s Kick for a Million campaign has been recognized internationally in the industry, winning Silver in the Stunt/PR category at the 2006 Media Innovation Awards, as well as Silver and Bronze at the 2007 and 2008 PROMO! Awards, respectively, for Best Sponsorship or Tie-In Campaign. The promotion was also a finalist at the 2006 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in the Best Use of Special Events and Stunts category.
