Toronto, ON (December 17, 2009) ESPN Classic gives the gift of hockey this holiday season with its annual World Juniors Weekend on December 19 and 20 and Gold Medal Marathon on December 24 and 25, as the network gears up for the highly-anticipated 2010 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP (see schedule below).  From Wayne Gretzky to John Slaney and from Paul Kariya to Sidney Crosby, ESPN Classic has more than 30 hours of vintage World Juniors games showcasing some of Canada’s biggest hockey stars and most memorable triumphs at the tournament.

TSN Unveils Top 10 Sports Stories of 2009

Toronto, ON (December 14, 2009) – TSN today revealed its annual list of the Top 10 Sports Stories of 2009.  Featuring all the big performances, big upsets and big personalities from the past year, the list was chosen by a panel of TSN commentators, reporters and producers.  TSN will count down to #1 and officially announce its pick for Top Sports Story of 2009 during the annual year-end special, SPORTSCENTRE: YEAR IN REVIEW on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. ET.  Fans can also have their say and vote for their choice for Top Sports Story of 2009 on TSN.ca

Neil Peart Gives Viewers a Sneak Peak Inside His Recording of The Hockey Theme, Tonight on TSN

– Legendary RUSH drummer assembled team of top musicians and engineers to record all-new version of “Canada’s second national anthem” –
– Fans get a look at recording session during tonight’s Leafs-Islanders Game –
 

Toronto, ON (December 9, 2009) – Armed with a team of top recording engineers and musicians, legendary Canadian drummer Neil Peart of Rush recorded a new rock version of The Hockey Theme yesterday for TSN.  Peart recorded his percussion-focused rendition of “Canada’s second national anthem” at the iconic Ocean Way Studios in Hollywood on Monday and Canada’s Sports Leader was there to capture every moment.

TSN2 Launches on Videotron Today

– With the addition of Videotron in Quebec, TSN2 and TSN2 HD are now available on all major television service providers across Canada –
– TSN2 is now available in more than 4.5 million Canadian homes –
 

TORONTO (December 9, 2009) – TSN confirmed that Videotron has launched TSN2 and TSN2 HD today – making the channels and its schedule of sports programming available to their subscribers in Quebec.  

With the addition of Videotron, TSN2 is now available on all major television service providers across Canada in both standard and high definition. 

Since its launch in August 2008, TSN2 has experienced an impressive period of rapid growth, and is now available in more than 4.5 million Canadian homes.   Read more…

Four Days to Remember for TSN

– Grey Cup Weekend and big NHL and NFL games highlight impressive stretch –

Toronto, ON (December 4, 2009) – TSN has capped off an outstanding four day stretch. With its packed-schedule of marquee events between November 28 and December 1, TSN saw its average 24-hour audience almost double compared to its season average. According to preliminary data from BBM Canada, TSN was the second most-watched network in all of Canada – just behind CTV– from Saturday to Tuesday.

TSN’s overall audience between November 28 and December 1 was 20% higher than Global’s average audience and 31% higher than CBC’s average audience.
