Blockbuster NHL Trades Result in Busy Sunday for TSN.ca

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Calgary Flames were not the only ones keeping busy yesterday. Hockey fans flocked to TSN.ca on Sunday thanks to the blockbuster trade pulled off by the Canadian clubs, contributing to more than 800,000* total video views – the highest single-day total ever for a non-NHL Trade Deadline Day and the second-highest single-day total in TSN.ca history. In terms of total page views, Sunday ranks as the 13th-best single-day total in TSN.ca history with 6.7 million page views.
The Flames sent all-star defenseman Dion Phaneuf to Toronto along with fellow blueliner Keith Aulie and forward Fredrik Sjostrom. In exchange, the Leafs sent defenseman Ian White and forwards Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman and Jamal Mayers to the Flames. Later on Sunday, the Leafs were at it again, sending goaltender Vesa Toskala and forward Jason Blake to the Anaheim Ducks for netminder Jean Sebastien-Giguere.

January was a very successful month for TSN.ca as it experienced its second-busiest month ever in terms of video views with 7.5 million and its third-busiest month ever in terms of page views, with 93.3 million. The big month for TSN.ca was fuelled by coverage of the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship and yesterday’s NHL trade coverage.
