Toronto, ON (January 15, 2010) – TSN and TSN2 are serving up an action-packed tennis broadcast schedule in 2010 featuring 600 hours of coverage from the biggest tournaments on the tennis calendar all year long.  Highlights include live coverage from all four Grand Slam tournaments: both the men’s and women’s Rogers cup events in Toronto and Montreal, respectively; every ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament; and the Barclays ATP World Tour Final.  Coverage will be in full-swing starting this Sunday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on TSN with live coverage from the AUSTRALIAN OPEN

The AUSTRALIAN OPEN takes place from January 17 to January 31 and fans won’t miss a minute of the action from the first Grand Slam event on the tennis calendar with TSN and TSN2 providing live coverage from the first round through to the finals (see broadcast schedule attached).  TSN.ca will also have select matches on-demand and highlights throughout the entire tournament.

2009 AUSTRALIAN OPEN champion and current world #2-ranked player, Rafael Nadal, returns to Melbourne looking for a second-consecutive title and continues his quest to overtake Roger Federer in the ATP world rankings.  Federer, however, has his sights set on adding to his record 15 career Grand Slam titles – including three AUSTRALIAN OPEN wins.  Both Nadal and Federer will be in tough against a field comprised of 128 of the world’s best players.

On the women’s side, four-time AUSTRALIAN OPEN champion Serena Williams returns to defend last year’s title against an impressive field including the red-hot Kim Clijsters who has already moved to #15 in the WTA world rankings since returning to the tour last August following a two-year hiatus.  Clijsters’ impressive run includes defeating Williams on her way to the 2009 US OPEN title and another tournament win at last week’s AUSTRALIAN OPEN tune-up, the Brisbane International.
