And They’re Off! 26th BREEDERS’ CUP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, Live on TSN and TSN2 Beginning Friday

Toronto, ON (November 4, 2009) – Thoroughbred racing’s richest and most prestigious event gallops to TSN and TSN2, as both networks team up this weekend to deliver exclusive live Canadian coverage of the 26th running of the BREEDERS’ CUP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA.  With more than $25 million in total purses and awards available to be won, TSN and TSN2’s complete coverage begins Friday, Nov. 6 and continues through to Saturday, Nov.  7, with all races available in High Definition (see broadcast schedule below). 

The event begins Friday on TSN with five races for female horses, plus the Breeders’ Cup Marathon for three-year-olds and up.  On Saturday, live coverage continues on TSN and TSN2 with the remaining eight races, including the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic featuring Kentucky Derby winner and former two-year old Canadian champion Mine That Bird, Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird, and the undefeated mare Zenyatta – winner of all 13 of her career starts.  In total, 166 horses were pre-entered in this year’s BREEDERS’ CUP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, including 10 defending or former BREEDERS’ CUP champions.

The BREEDERS’ CUP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS draws the highest level of competition from around the world and is widely recognized as one of the toughest tests of a Thoroughbred’s skill and endurance.
